“Don’t you know that we will judge angels—not to mention ordinary matters?"
- 1 Cor 6:3 HCSB
A few years ago the Lord asked a simple, unsettling question: “What if you were the king of the game industry?”
One of the first and most enduring answers that rose was this: establish a hall of prayer. Not a conference. Not a networking group. A room that would stand before the throne on behalf of an entire sphere.
That is what we are doing.
Every Week
Thirty minutes before the Throne
A small company of Christian professionals gathers, and we take our seats as sons and daughters who will one day judge angels. We remember that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. We name the people of this industry as brothers and sisters, even when they stand far from us. And then we pray — for studios, for leaders, for the wounded, for the work itself, and for the long redemptive future of games.
Our annual cadence covers an enormous, and vital, landscape from our people and their thriving, to our products and their production. We pray over diplomacy, contracts, warfare and more. We set aside four themes in every month and any fifth week is set aside for prayerful listening.
If you have a heart for prayer and a passion for this sector then we welcome your words. You do not need to be an expert intercessor. You only need a willingness to take a seat and to care about the long health of this field.
A typical meeting flows like this:
- Invocation
- Taking our position
- Stating our purpose — the standing call, the month’s idea, the week’s focus
- We pause to listen, in case the Spirit wants to redirect us
- Open intercession
- We listen again. Did we forget anything? Miss anything?
- Closing: May the Lord bless us and keep us…
Four high days
Invitations, not obligations. They mark the year with practices that fit the lives makers actually live.
- Congregation of Ethuil — Community (spring) We gather on purpose. The industry isolates; this day does not.
- Fast of Laer — Rest (summer) A digital Sabbath more than a fast from food. Attention, returned.
- Feast of Iavas — Thanksgiving (autumn) We feast and we play. Games as gift, not only product.
- Vigil of Rhîw — Recollection (winter) Release what must be released. Consecrate the work again.
